Creating an article

Without a template

  1. If you have not logged in to Arena, do so now.
  2. Click the tab Articles & Tips (default Arena installation) or find the Create article page.
  3. Locate the Create article section.


     
  4. Select No template in the drop-down and click Continue. The article editor screen will open.


     
  5. In Name type the title of the article.
  6. In Available languages select the language that the article will use.
  7. In Description type a brief description or synopsis of the article. This will appear below the article title in Arena.
  8. In Body text type the body of the article. You may use HTML script to format the article, if you wish. You may also add pictures and hyperlinks to the article, by using the relevant features in the article editor toolbar.
  9. Subject, Content group and Content types are used for categorization of articles for searching and grouping.
  10. Records is used if you want to link an article to a catalogue record (or many). Write the member ID in Authority name and the record id in Record Id.
  11. Define the Display date for when the article should be published.
  12. Define the Expiry date for when the article should be removed from the site (that is, not be visible to end-users anymore).
  13. Use Event start date and Event end date if you want to connect the article to the Event calendar.
  14. If the article is not yet ready to save, tick Draft. Draft articles are not visible to other Arena users.
  15. Under Scope, select portal sites in the system where the article should be published. The site where you are logged in is selected by default and cannot be changed.
  16. Click Create to create the article, or click Cancel to abandon and lose the article.

When the article has been approved by an administrator, it will be published in the site.

With a template

Templates provide an easier way to create articles. Each template provides the basic layout for an article, with content that you fill in via a form when creating the article. Each template has a different layout and structure.

  1. If you have not logged in to Arena, do so now.
  2. Click the tab Articles & Tips (default Arena installation) or find the Create article page.
  3. Locate the Create article section
  4. Select the template you wish to use in dropdown. A preview of the template will appear at the bottom of this section.


     
  5. Click Continue. A range of fields will appear. These will vary, depending on which template you have chosen.


     
  6. Fill-in the fields as required, and then click Submit to continue. The article editor screen will open.


     
  7. In Name type the title of the article.
  8. In Available languages select the language that the article will use.
  9. In Description type a brief description or synopsis of the article. This will appear below the article title in Arena.
  10. If the article is not yet ready to save, tick Draft. Draft articles are not visible to other Arena users.
  11. Click Create to create the article, or click Cancel to abandon and lose the article.

When the article has been approved by an administrator, it will be published on the site.
